Just over a hundred parts go to make this excellent model true to scale and superbly detailed. The B-17G was the latest and most successful version of this World War II day bomber to be developed. Produced in July 1943, it was one of the aircraft operated by the 447th Bombardment Group of the U.S. Eigth Air Force. Famous for its high altitude performance, the B-17G had a maximum speed of 300 m.p.h. at 30,000 feet and a range of approximately 2,000 miles. Bomb load varied up to 17,600 lbs. and defensive armament consisted of either twelve or thirteen 0.5 in. machine guns. - Taken from the 2nd edition catalogue (1963)
