Vintage Airfix is an independent reference site dedicated to documenting Airfix kits, catalogues, box artwork and the history of Airfix.
Vintage Airfix is owned and maintained by Dan Parish, an Airfix enthusiast who has compiled the website as a historical reference resource for fellow collectors, modellers and researchers. The Vintage Airfix kit database was compiled directly from a collection of physical Airfix catalogues and records every kit listed in those catalogues from 1962 to 2010.
Each kit page brings together the information available for that particular kit, including catalogue references, first issue dates and, where known, details of the artists responsible for the box artwork.
A kit’s first issue date and its first appearance in an Airfix catalogue are recorded separately, as these may not be the same year. Catalogue references identify the numbers under which a kit appeared in individual editions of the Airfix catalogues. Where historical information is unavailable, it is left unrecorded rather than estimated.
Vintage Airfix also preserves a growing collection of Airfix instruction sheets and includes material covering Airfix catalogues, packaging, box-art artists, books and the history of the brand.
The site has been created as a reference resource for anyone researching an Airfix kit, identifying an older release, exploring the company’s catalogues or simply revisiting the history of Airfix.
Vintage Airfix is an independent website and is not the official Airfix website.
