Description
First British combat aircraft with supersonic performance, the lightning has been in service with R.A.F. Fighter Command since 1960. Ususal characteristics of the Lightning include the twin engine arrangement – one engine being mounted behind and above the other – and the large belly fuel tank which, althrough not normally expendable, can be jettisoned in an emergency. The 35 parts of this kit combine to produce a superb scale model of this famous aeroplane. – Taken from the 2nd edition catalogue (1963)
