Description
Saunders-Roe "S.R. 53" – Airfix kit 1407, first issued in 1958, Series 1, listed in the Airfix catalogues from 1962 to 1976. Later renumbered 100, 01020-7, 02059-8.
The first Bitish manned aircraft designed to use the mixed-power formula, the S.R. 53 is a research fighter using a rocket motor as well as a turbojet for its power plant. The Airfix kit of the S.R. 53 is fully detailed including two winged tip "Firestreak" missiles. – Taken from the 1st edition catalogue (1962)
