Description
Travelling Crane – Airfix kit 205, first issued in 1959, Series 2, listed in the Airfix catalogues from 1962 to 1980. Later renumbered 03627-8.
Suitable for a dock or factory area, the Airfix Travelling Crane can be constructed to travel on "00" gauge scale rail. When fully threaded and weighted, the crane can be used for lifting and transporting scale loads. The kit contains 58 parts and as can be seen from the illustration is remarkably well detailed. The height from ground level to the lower edge of the platform girders is 61mm. (2 1/2 inches) allowing for trains to pass through the crane base. The length of the boom is 155 mm. (6 inches) and the height to the top of the cab 132mm. (5 inches). – Taken from the 1st edition catalogue (1962)
