A VSTOL carrier-borne development of the RAF Harrier, the Sea Harrier FRS.1 is operated by the Royal Navy as a fleet defence fighter and ground attack aircraft. Its capability was dramatically demonstrated during the recent Falklands conflict when it operated successfully against superior numbers of opposing aircraft.
