Description
'Golden Hind' – Airfix kit 09258-4, first issued in 1977, Series 9, listed in the Airfix catalogues from 1977 to 2002. Later renumbered 911201, 9258.
Famous in history as the first English ship to sail round the world, the Golden Hind became the symbol of English sea power in the 16th century. Commanded by Sir Francis Drake, the 110-ton ship took three years for the voyage and on arrival back at Plymouth it is recorded she was carrying 30 tons of treasure plundered chiefly from Spanish ships and possessions. This kit is believed to be the most accurate model obtainable of this famous vessel. – Taken from the 14th edition catalogue (1977)
