Undertaking long and arduous maritime patrols, Wellington Mk.VIIIs performed reconnaissance, anti-submarine and anti-shipping strike roles in the vital battle against German U-boats, helping to keep Britain’s sea lanes open and preventing Axis forces re-supplying by sea.
