Airfix Catalogue description:

An authentic replica of the highly successful USAF fighter which was used extensively in almost every theatre of war during WW II. It's best known top-scoring pilot was Major Robert S Johnson who was said to have won 28 victories, including an astonishing 4 in one day! This kit represents Major Johnsons plane whilst stationed at Boxted in England in 1944. - Taken from the 1992 edition catalogue
