Airfix Catalogue description:

First British combat aircraft with supersonic performance, the lightning has been in service with R.A.F. Fighter Command since 1960. Ususal characteristics of the Lightning include the twin engine arrangement - one engine being mounted behind and above the other - and the large belly fuel tank which, althrough not normally expendable, can be jettisoned in an emergency.
