Famous Ships

All modelled to a constant scale of 1:600 the Airfix range of famous ships already includes such famous fighting vessels as the Nelson and the Cossack and now the first British liner has been added. Every piece nessessary for the production of a perfect model is here, nothing has been left out. In Series 3, 4 and 5 kits a capsule of cement is supplied and all kits include detailed instructions on building and painting as well as a brief historical background.

Painting Ships. Start by laying all the parts on a tray and identifing them with the instructions. Small pieces should be painted before assembly and this is more easily done while they are still on their sprue or stem. To obtain a satisfactory finish on large surfaces, make sure that each piece is free from any grease. This can be done by washing larger parts in a detergent solution. A clear sharp hull line can be obtained by using a mask of adhesive or some similar material. For atteching the small pieces a pair of stamp tweezers will be found most useful.
