The Airfix model of the first turbojet aircraft to become operational has 40 parts. The M.E.262 marked the peak of German design in World War II. Started in 1938, it first flew in 1942. In April 1944 deliveries began of the M.E.262-1a fighter; later it was modified as a bomber, which proved unsuccessful, and a night fighter. At the end of the war, over 1,400 M.E.262's had been produced, of which only about 100 had been operational.

Consequently the model it makes is an excellent scale reproduction of the famous German medium bomber. The HE 111 was used extensively by the Luftwaffe in World War II. In fact it was the HE 111 that was the mainstay of the German offensive against Great Britain during the "Battle of Britain". However, this particular model, the H-20 was used mainly on the Russian front. Powered by two Junkers Juno 213 engines it had a top speed of 295 m.p.h., and a service ceiling of 32,800 feet. Maximum bomb load was 8,000 lbs. and defensive armament consisted of three MG 131 13mm. machine guns and twin 7.9mm. machine guns in each of the two beam positions.

No. 2 in the Skyking Series, the Caravelle of Sub Aviation has 45 parts and makes into a man-sized 9 1/4 inch wing-span model. The main feature in design of the Caravelle is it's attention to passenger comfort, and contributing largely to this is the rear mounting of the Roll-Royce turbo-jets. Without loss of efficiency, the deafening roar made by these massive engines disappears in the wake of the aircraft, leaving passengers in comparative vibrationless and noise-free comfort. The Mosquito earned its reputation in a number of different roles, as a rocket firing fighter bomber, as an anti-shipping striker with coastal command, and as a radar equipped night fighter. The most unusual aspect of this aircraft, however, was that it was constructed almost entirely of wood and because of this the Air Ministry did not immediately recognize its potentialities, when it was developed by De Havilland in 1940. This Airfix kit has 48 parts and makes into a 9 inch wingspan model based on a rocket carrying aircraft of number 487 Squadron as flown in 1943.

America's first swept-wing jet fighter, the Sabre, gained its combat laurels over Korea soundly beating the Russian MoGs. The F-86D, nicknamed the Sabre-Dog, was the all-weather interceptor version and was unique in having an all-rocket armament. Markings are provided for two USAF-flown Sabres.

This kit is still factory sealed.
