The following description is taken from the first appearance of this kit in an Airfix Catalogue.
The short/medium-range, twin-engined European Airbus is a collective attempt by four governments - France, West Germany, Spain and the Netherlands - to break into the American-dominated market for large civil airliners. Seating 250-300 passengers, Air France began regular services with the Airbus in 1974 followed by Lufthansa in 1976.
